Sick and Sleeping

Poor Meghan has been sick this week. She fell asleep early tonight so I had to sneak into her room while she was sleeping to snap a picture. I took the picture while it was dark so I had to use the flash. As bright as it is I'm not sure how she didn't wake up.

I tried to take Meghan in the shower with me tonight in hopes that the steam would loosen her cough. That was a major failure. She screamed the whole time. Yet when she is in the bathtub she has no problem pulling the handle to make the shower turn on her.

Digging Through Trash

This evening while I was stuffing trash in the trash can I hear The Farmer in the Dell playing. Knowing that Meghan's Fridge Farm has been missing I looked behind the trash can assuming it was there. No, of course it was in the trash can under a load of garbage. I seriously debated throwing it away and not digging it out. But, I know Meghan loves this so I dug through the trash to get it out and then spent 20 minutes cleaning and sanitizing it. Oh the things I never would have done before having a baby.

Giant Fork

How do you get a toddler who won't eat to eat? Give her a giant fork of course.

Meghan actually got the fork herself. She put her food onto a bigger plate that was sitting on top of the microwave and put that plate on a bowl. Then she found the giant fork and used that to eat her garden burger. It was surprisingly easy for her to stab the food.

Getting it to her mouth was a little trickier.

Sleepy Sick Girl

I had to stay home with Meghan today. She was a little sick and clingy with a cough.

This is how Meghan spent most of the day.

Of course just before bed she decided she wanted to play. So, she got out her tea set, climbed on the couch, and had a little tea party with herself.

A Note from Daddy

Meghan and I came home to see this note from Kevin. He used Meghan's block cart to leave us a message. So sweet!

Please try to ignore the dust. I dusted yesterday afternoon. I guess that is why this area is called the dust bowl.

Thunder Up!

This morning Meghan woke up in a great mood. Here she is peeking through her farm at me.

Earlier today when we went to church Meghan had a jumper over her leggings and shirt. It all looked so weird on her, especially the shirt. It has a lace collar and poofy sleeves. It is just not her style. At only 18 months it's weird to think that she has a style but this outfit just didn't fit her personality.

In support of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Meghan is wearing Kevins T-Shirt from Thursday's game. Kevin went to the game and said it was the loudest professional sporting event he has been to.

Pigtails and Ice Cream

This morning while I was straightening my hair Meghan got out a curling iron and tried to curl her own hair. So, after I was finished I decided to try to give Meghan pigtails again. The last time I tried she moved too much and didn't have enough hair to keep even the tiniest bands in. It worked today. She looked so strange with them; like a little person instead of my baby.

After dinner Kevin, Meghan, and I walked to a restaurant about half a mile from our house to get some dessert. Meghan walked almost all the way there and back. As soon as we got back she went right to sleep. This was a little surprising since she got to have her first ice cream while we were there. It really wasn't her first but rather the first time we had ordered something for her. She didn't eat the whole thing either. She got full after about a third of a scoop.

Red Hair

Doesn't Meghan's hair look really red in this picture?

Of course she wanted to stick her face in the camera after she noticed it.

Fun with the Laptop

While I was making Meghan's dinner she took it upon herself to climb on the couch and pull the laptop onto her lap. She was mesmerized by it for quite a while.

A Boring Post

This is a boring post with an ugly picture. Meghan is cutting her incisors. This has been going on for a month or so now. I can't wait for these things to come through and her sleep to improve. In honor of that you get to see an ugly picture of her toothbrush since she won't let me take a picture of her teeth. On a side note, why oh why do all toddler toothbrushes have to have stupid characters on them. I hate character stuff, especially Pooh. Meghan will probably grow up to love it. Blah.

Faster than a Speeding Train

This is why camera phones and toddlers don't mix. Enjoy the blur.

Cheap Bubbles Aren't Worth It

Meghan loves to play outside in the afternoon. One of her favorite activities is bubbles. When I was in Wal-Mart a few weeks back there were numerous bubbles to choose from. Of course I chose the 32 ounce, one dollar bottle. Bubbles are bubbles, right? Why not get the large container for half the price of the container that is a third the size? Because they suck. They don't even make bubbles. Lesson learned: sometimes you need to buy the expensive brand.

Here is Meghan riding her car in the backyard. Not terribly interesting but I needed a picture for today.

Meghan's Favorite App

This is Meghan's favorite App on the iphone. It is like the See and Say that I used to have when I was a kid. They actually still make those. We found it one day when we were in Toys-R-Us. It scared the snot out of Meghan. This app, called I Hear Ewe, is basically the same thing. You touch an animal and it says "This is the sound a _____ makes" and then has the real animal making the noise. It is actually pretty cool, and free which is an added bonus.

Reading to Her Baby

Meghan was reading some books to her baby in the rocking chair this afternoon. I got the camera and snuck in a picture before she noticed me. When I went to put the camera back Meghan was in her crib, as were the baby and her books. Apparently climbing into the crib is fun too.

Shoes

Meghan loves to put our shoes on and walk around the house.

Walkin' in the Weeds

Meghan enjoyed picking weeds from the grass this afternoon.

Growth Spurt?

Tonight while I was making dinner Meghan crawled into her high chair, up onto the table, stole one of Kevin's quesadillas, and sat back down to dig in. It was quite cute and funny. She has to be going through a growth spurt because this was after she ate two bowls of cereal and drank a sippy of milk.

Ordinary, right?

This is just an ordinary picture of Meghan in the high chair, right? Well, it would be if you didn't consider how she got into the high chair. While Kevin and I were in the living room Meghan pushed the chair out, climbed onto it, and then into the high chair. She even tried to put her own bib on before she dug into her snack. She is such a resourceful girl.

Walk Around the Block

Kevin, Meghan, and I went for a walk after dinner tonight. Meghan walked the entire way, about half a mile. She became especially interested in her shadow on a fence. She was waving hi and poking at it.

Skype Please!

Meghan decided this afternoon that she wanted to Skype. So, she grabbed the camera and tried to put it into the computer. Unfortunately, Grandma wasn't home so she had to wait until later. I think it is interesting that she knows exactly what the camera is for and where to put it. She also only seems to ask for the camera on Sundays, which is the usual day we Skype with Kevin's parents. We have such a smart girl!

Her First Zoo Trip

Kevin and I took Meghan to the Zoo today for the first time. The weather was pretty perfect. It was cool in the morning and turned out to be mid seventies in the afternoon. Meghan is just getting old enough to enjoy it. She could point at the animals and locate them in their pens. She actually walked around quite a bit.

Meghan was sporting her sunglasses and sun hat while waiting to pet the animals in the barn.

She was a little timid at first, but with a little coaxing she pet the goat.

Meghan's favorite animal, the monkey. Okay, this is really a gorilla but to Meghan it is a monkey.

Staring and pointing at the monkey.

Shoes

These are Meghan's favorite shoes. Whenever she wears them she stares at her feet.

Baby Needs A Diaper

Meghan got a diaper out of her room tonight and tried to put it on her baby.

It turns out putting a diaper on is a lot harder than she thought.

17 Months!

Meghan is seventeen months old today and her personality is really coming out. She is such a social child. When she leaves daycare in the afternoon, she says "Bye" and waves to everyone. This afternoon we went to the grocery store. When we were leaving Meghan said "Bye" and waved to everyone with a big grin on her face. Everyone said bye back to her. I wish we could have gotten it on video. It was incredibly cute.

We also had another milestone today. Meghan had her first incident at daycare. Another toddler bit her on the arm. You can see the bite on her arm in the picture below.

Funny Hair and Funny Faces

Meghan is especially silly after her bath. Kevin combed her hair straight up and she started making goofy faces at him.

Monday

It's Monday and I don't have much to say. I tried to snap a picture of Meghan laying next to her baby talking. But, as usual, she saw the camera and her interest changed.

Happy Easter

Meghan in her Easter outfit.

Kevin, Meghan, and I ready for Church. Meghan really wanted to get down and run around, hence the frowny face. One day we'll get a good family photo.

Egg Hunting

We went to a community Easter Egg Hunt today. We thought it would be good because there were areas sectioned off for different age groups.

Meghan was a little timid at first. She didn't want to let go of me. It looks like there are a lot of eggs on the ground doesn't it? You should have seen it when they blew the horn to start hunting. A bunch of parents and toddlers swarmed the place.

After Meghan had some help putting a couple eggs in her basket she got the hang of it. She filled her basket to the brim.

Meghan says to Grandpa "That's my egg, I worked hard for it."

Meghan takes a rest against the fence. Egg hunting was hard work.

Pretty Hat

Meghan was having fun trying on Grandma's Easter Hat.

Windy Day

Meghan got to spend the day with Grandma and Grandpa today. They took a walk this morning and then came to have lunch with me at work. It would have been a great day for the park if it hadn't been so windy. Kevin had to hold Meghan's hand when they were outside because the wind was knocking her around.

Meghan is going to use this look on her Daddy to get whatever she wants.

This is how Meghan barks at the neighbors dog. She crouches down and gets her whole body into it.
