Project 365

So I am starting a new project for 2010. It is called project 365. Basically you take a picture a day for an entire year. I am hoping it will help me do two things. Become a better photographer and keep this blog updated. My main subject for the project will be Meghan but I will include Kevin and myself in the project as well. Now we'll just see if I can do this!

Our First White Christmas!

This was the first white Christmas for all of us. It was hovering in the teens (negative wind chill) so Meghan only got to go out for a few minutes. She was not happy to have to be bundled up so the pacifier and dolly came out into the snow with us.

'Twas the Night Before Christmas

Ok, it's really the day before Christmas but Meghan is all ready for Santa Claus.

No Tutu!

I had made this tutu for Meghan for her birthday. More than a month later I finally got to trying it on her. She wanted nothing of it. She kept trying to pull it off. Oh well, maybe she'll be a track star instead of a ballerina.

Such Personality

I love how Meghan has started really playing. Before she just banged toys around, but now she is beginning to use dramatic play. She hugs and rocks her baby doll, puts it in her "crib" (a laundry basket), and talks on the play phone.

And just today she learned how to climb onto the couch. I went into the kitchen to get something and came back to this. She looks so proud of herself.
(Try to ignore the red spots on her face, this weather is aggravating her eczema)

Meghan took the shopping bag after we got home from the grocery store and drug it around putting things in it. So cute!

Meghan Visits Santa

We took Meghan to see Santa at Bass Pro Shops today. It was nice because we only had to wait about 15 minutes and got a free picture. I knew Meghan wouldn't like Santa so I really didn't want to pay for it. They also let us take pictures with our camera. As you can see Meghan wanted nothing of it. She loved waiting in line and seeing the decorated trees and nutcrackers, she even smiled at Santa. But then I put her on his lap and she wanted none of it.

Meghan reaching for Mommy and Santa looking seriously worried.

This is the same picture just zoomed out. I think it's pretty funny for her first Santa picture.

I've Been Waiting for This

Everyone has cute pictures of their kids falling asleep playing or eating. I waited almost thirteen months and I finally got my picture. We were eating dinner last night and she just couldn't stay awake.

Thanksgiving Fun

We have been visiting Kevin's parents in Columbia, MO this week. Here are a few pictures from our trip.
"Oh, you didn't want me to play with the silver."

Meghan playing touch football. She actually got to carry the ball for a few yards.

Four generations of Donohos.

A Failed Attempt

We went to the park yesterday to try and get some family pictures. It was a big fat fail. I put the camera on the tripod and set the self timer. Meghan would smile for the 20 seconds leading up to the capture but them something would distract her and she would look away. I see the purchase of a remote trigger in my near future.

We still got a few good shots of Meghan while we were at the park.

Being a ham as usual. She wouldn't stay still and kept walking towards the camera.

The wind made her hair look wacky but I still think this is a cute shot. I love this dress but I think when I do a redo of family pictures I'll put brown leggings on her instead of white tights.

More Birthday Fun

These pictures were from yesterday while we were at the park.

I love the expression.

Walking in the leaves. She actually did really well considering she has just started walking.

Happy Halloween

Meghan had her first Halloween today. She even got to trick or treat at a few houses.

Modeling her cute bumble bee costume.

Got Dirt?

I was pretty sick this weekend, as was Meghan, so there wasn't too much fun going on. Nevertheless here are some pictures from the last week or so.

While I was getting things ready for work and daycare Friday Meghan took it upon herself to get into the pantry. She had found a potato and was noshing on it. Ya know, they say kids start to eat weird things (i.e. sand) when they are missing minerals in their diet. I wonder what eating a potato means?

Meghan's Great Grandmother gave this chair to her last Christmas. She loves the thing. She spends a great part of the day climbing into it with her books, doll, tiger, or anything else she can find. She has also discovered that she can stand up in it to get a better view out the window. Amazingly she is able to get out of the chair without hurting herself, though she still just rolls out occasionally. I guess it's just faster that way.

My intent was do do a few projects this weekend. I did not anticipate the nasty cold I have. So, the only project I got finished was this scrapbook frame. It has one of Meghan's first pictures, her hospital hat, her first pair of socks, and an M. It looks a lot better in person.

Baby Steps...

Meghan has been taking steps lately. We have been trying to capture it on video for days now. The problem is that every time we take the camera out she stops taking steps. I imagine it won't be long before she is really walking.

Pumpkin Patch Part II

More pumpkin patch fun...
Waving to herself. Meghan hasn't quite mastered the direction in which her hand should go while waving.

Playing with the big pumpkins.

A pumpkin hug.

With Kevin in the corn maze. It was really cold out, notice Meghan's mittens that are way too big. She kept trying to wave to herself with them on.
All in all, we rode on a hayride, went to the petting zoo, explored some pumpkins, and froze. Average high for October 11th is 74 degrees, today the high was 40 degrees.

Pumpkin Patch Part I

Today was Meghan's first visit to a pumpkin patch. It was tons of fun. Meghan was all smiles, especially for the animals. She would just barely touch them and then jerk her hand back laughing, so cute.

Holding an itty bitty pumpkin. It took a couple tries for her to actually hold it and not drop it on the ground.
Amused by her pumpkin.

One of my favorite pictures from today.

It's been a while...

I know, it's been a long while since I have made a blog post. These last two weeks have been busy. Meghan was sick last week/weekend (read: Kevin got covered in puke). Then I had conferences which meant I was at school until 7:30 Tuesday and Thursday with a high fever too. Turns out I had strep throat, occupational hazard I suppose.

Saturday was a fairly nice day, cloudy but warm. Today on the other hand was rainy and cold. Meghan wore a sweatsuit for the first time in many months. I should have been writing lesson plans today like a good teacher but instead I decided to spend some time doing things I like to do. You know, the hobbies we often never have time for. For me those hobbies are cooking/baking, crafting, and taking and editing pictures.

I made chili this morning in the crock pot since it was a cold and wet day. While Meghan slept this afternoon I made her some hair bows. You can see the fruits of my labor below. Then I took some pictures of the cutie and enhanced them a little since it was a cloudy day. Finally I made white chocolate macadamia nut cookies. And of course I can't forget my favorite thing, playing with Meghan. She's so interactive now, I love it!

I think the hair bow turned out great. Next time I will make the base brown too, I just didn't have any small brown ribbon.

This is Meghan's favorite face. She always makes it when she's hamming it up.

The cat thought she was being smart and hiding from Meghan. Instead, Meghan had the cat boxed in.

Fun at the Fair!

We went to the Oklahoma State Fair today. It was fun but I was a little disappointed because Meghan wasn't tall enough to ride on the Merry Go Round. Seriously, who has a height requirement for a Merry Go Round??? We Still had fun though.

I love this picture. You can see her cute little bottom teeth.

Watching the miniature horses make ice cream. They were actually turning the ice cream maker, super cute, and Meghan was saying "Hi" to them and laughing.

Meghan was smaller than this prize watermelon. She thought this was hilarious and was kicking her legs and laughing.

Watching some sheep. She was completely uninterested, the people walking by were way more entertaining. That's because it was the Oklahoma Fair and the people sure do come out of the woodwork.

10 Months Old!

Meghan is ten months old today. Wow, 10 months!!! Some new things this month: She has two teeth now and is working on four more (read: she isn't sleeping making one tired Mommy). Meghan can stand on her own, her record is about twenty seconds. She has started eating more table foods and really likes wheat bread. You have to be careful because she will steal any food you are eating. And she is still trying to eat the cat food.

Such pretty eyes (this picture is completely unedited, I really hope her eyes don't change color).

A grumpy teething baby watching football with Daddy while Mommy went to get a massage (thank you Kevin!).

Standing on her own, so exciting!!!
And wearing big girl footie jammies.

It Finally Happened...

She has a tooth!!!!!
One of our last toothless smiles.

This was this morning before I went to work. You could feel the tooth but it hadn't broken the skin yet.

And this was this afternoon. If you click on the picture you can see the little tooth poking through.
I can't believe she finally has a tooth. My little baby is growing up. =(

A Priceless Expression

This picture is from a couple weeks ago but I have been meaning to post it. The quality of the picture isn't that great as I was trying to snap it before Meghan realized I was watching her. Such a cute face, she knew she was busted. She is contstantly opening that drawer to get the Playstation controller out, we finally had to put an ottoman in front of the drawers.

Another Milestone

Meghan learned how to feed herself this weekend. Yay! I put some puffs on her tray and she usually just pushes them around but today she picked them up and put them in her mouth right away.

Feeling so proud of her accomplishment.

"Hmm, I think I'll eat some more."

9 Months!

Wow, 9 months, I can hardly believe it. These last 9 months have flown by. Meghan has changed so much, especially in the last month. She is now a speed crawler, getting into everything. I especially love her little voice and how she babbles to her toys.
(I know some of you copy pictures from the blog. If you want a copy without the watermark just leave me a comment and I will email it to you. The watermark is the result of me watching too many news stories about pictures being stolen from blogs.)

Fun in the Sun

This last week Meghan and I flew to Missouri for a visit with Kevin's family. Kevin joined us later in the week. Here are a few highlights from our trip.

Meghan playing in the splashground at the country club. She loves the water and chewing on her finger as you can see.

Playing with Uncle Jeff. Is that a cat toy?

Meghan discovering the window. I was trying to get a picture of her looking out the window but anytime she hears the camera click she looks and smiles. Such a ham!

Meghan adores cats and spends most of her day chasing our cat, Millie, around. Buster actually let Meghan pet him.

More fun at the splashground. This time under the fountain.
