Curly?

As Meghan's hair gets longer she gets more curly Q's in the back. Could this be the beginning of curly hair?

Cadbury Eggs

Behold, the look on Meghan's face when you say "No, you can't eat the Cadbury Eggs".

Babies!

My Mom sent us some Cabbage Patch dolls that were mine when I was little. Meghan picked one and has been attached to it all day. She was even giving it tons of kisses.
Here she is toting the Cabbage Patch diaper bag. Meghan is definitely a girly girl.

Riding Her Car

Please excuse the iphone photo. I came home today and Meghan was outside riding her car while Daddy was working in the yard.

Pretty Flowers?

Daddy, a.k.a. Kevin, a.k.a Salesman of the Year. That's right, Kevin was named Nestle Salesman of the Year at his national sales meeting last week. We are so proud of him!

Are these pretty wildflowers or weeds in the grass? I think they shall be pretty flowers since they are green and the grass is not.

Boo Boo

It's hard to tell in this picture but Meghan has a bruise on her left cheek. She fell down today and hit her face.

Ice Cream

It was such a nice day today, 74 degrees. This afternoon Meghan and I played outside and enjoyed ice cream cones. Meghan was a little unsure of it.

The beginning of the end. Meghan decided the cone was way tastier than the ice cream. After she bit the end off, the ice cream melted everwhere. I guess it's a good thing we were outside.

Laying Around

Meghan found another use for the packing material from Daddy's work stuff.

Sunday Fun

The snow drift by our front walk was almost as tall as Meghan. We wanted to snap a picture after church of Meghan standing next to it but she wanted none of it.

She was much happier inside.

This afternoon there was still quite a bit of snow in the backyard. It has mostly melted away now, thank goodness. I need spring!

Saturday, March 20, 2010

Snow, snow, go away.

This is what Meghan wore yesterday.

This is what she wore today. It's the first day of Spring. There should not be this much snow, or really any snow. Meghan flat out hates the snow. All the times we have had snow this year she has screamed her head off when we go out in it. I guess she is destined to be a warm weather girl. I think I am with her. Growing up I always wished I lived somewhere snowy. As an adult it kinda stinks. I can go visit snow when I want to play in it. Dealing with it on a regular basis is a big pain.

A Beautiful Day

It was such a beautiful day today, around 70 degrees. Meghan and I spent much of the day outside. She loves to just walk around. The buds on the tree are beginning to open. It is too bad that these will all be gone tomorrow. We are supposed to be having a winter storm. Windchills will be in the teens due to the blizzard that will be coming. Yes that's right, we are expecting a blizzard on the first day of Spring.

I got this picture on accident. I was trying to take a picture of the tulip when into the shot came some little fingers. Don't worry, she was gentle and didn't pull it off.

Mega Bloks and Little People

Apparently Meghan wanted to play with her Mega Bloks in the kitchen today. She drug the bag over there and started building, then she dumped them all out. Now we just need to work on putting them back into the bag.
The Little People return. Once again Meghan lined up her Little People on the window sill. Then she sat in her rocker and "talked" to them. Maybe she'll end up being a teacher like her Mama.

I did it!!!

I did it and I am so excited. I finally nailed the focus. The focus in this photo is perfectly on Meghan's eyes. If you zoom in enough you can even make out the shed in our backyard through the catchlights in her eyes. Nailing the focus is actually much easier said than done, especially with a toddler. Not only do you need to have the correct focus point you need to have the correct settings on your camera (ISO, shutter speed, and aperture). I shoot in manual mode so I choose all the settings. The right combination of settings will yield the proper focus and clarity. What you also have to keep in mind is that with a shallow depth of field, as in this photo, the focus plane may only be an inch or so. So, if Meghan moves an inch she will no longer be in focus. Try getting a toddler to not move an inch.

This picture is SOOC (straight out of camera) with one small exception. The only editing I did was to remove the giant booger beneath Meghan's nose.

A Big Day

I feel like Meghan is growing and changing so quickly. Her personality is definitely blossoming. She is so cute, funny, and loving. She is giving tons of hugs and kisses, and is loving to snuggle. Today we were playing and she kept pointing to my eye. I asked her where my nose was and she pointed to my nose. Then I asked her where her nose was and she picked her nose, gross. She can point to noses, eyes, and mouth.

Today while I was making dinner Meghan picked up some trash from the floor and put it in the trash can. I gave her a ton of praise for throwing the trash away and then she started throwing the pieces to her fridge farm away and clapping for herself. I had to fish them out and lock the trash can lid. So Meghan proceeded to take all the magnets off an lay them on top of the trash can. A little while later she took them all and put them back on the fridge. This is huge considering she usually throws them everywhere.

A couple of days ago while Kevin and I were cleaning Meghan brought the Bumbo and tray out of her closet. Ever since then she has been sitting in it and putting the tray on. I can't believe she still fits in it.

Lazy Day

Meghan didn't sleep well last night so she was content to spend most the day on the couch cuddling. Here she shoved an entire fruit leather into her mouth. Can you tell she was mesmerized by the Wonderpets. I think she likes the songs they sing.

When I went to the kitchen to put her cup away Meghan figured out how to climb onto the TV stand. Don't worry Kevin, I took her down right away. The camera just happened to be on the kitchen table.

My new goal...

... is to get rid of this:

We are starting by leaving the pacifier in the crib. So, Meghan will only get it at nap and bedtime. When she woke up this morning she wasn't using it so that was no problem. After her nap she put it in as I was getting her up. I took it out and said "The pacifier is going to stay in the crib Meghan". She laughed at me. She did great today without it.

Spring Cleaning

Kevin and I spent the morning Spring Cleaning. Meghan actually helped too; she vacuumed the kitchen. After that Meghan and I made some muffins. She was a little too busy here to eat her muffin.

It didn't take long for her to chow down. Too bad it wasn't a muffin but rather a chocolate chip granola bar.

It's Finally Spring Break

Meghan was having a grumpy day today. When she's grumpy Kevin can usually do something silly and get her to laugh. He's riding her mermaid car today. She fits on it a lot better than Kevin.

How can I forget. It is finally Spring Break. Yay!!!!!!

Caterpillar

I had to get some stuff at the Lakeshore Learning store tonight. After walking a lap around the store while touching everything, Meghan found the play area. She enjoyed playing in the caterpillar tunnel while I was shopping. I thought the tunnel would be something Meghan might like at home. Unfortunately, it was $400 for six feet of hard plastic. Kevin looked at the price and said, "Meghan wishes I loved her that much."

Could It Be?

Has spring finally sprung? I sure hope so.

My little climber is at it again. I turned away for just a few seconds to throw something in the closet and Meghan made it onto the arm of her glider. And yes, I ran to get the camera before taking her off the chair.

Squirty Fish and Blue Chips

Meghan has these fish in the bathtub that fill with water and then spray the water when you squish them. She likes to squirt everything and laugh hysterically. She especially likes the reaction she gets when she squirts me. In this picture she is squirting Daddy who keeps ducking behind the door.

Before bed Meghan got to watch the beginning of Blue Chips. Her favorite actor was Nick Nolte. Just kidding, it was her Grandpa.

Ready for Bed

Meghan says "Night Night". OK, not really but that's what she would say if she could.

16 Months Old

Meghan is 16 months old today. She and I were both sick today so we spent most of the day relaxing. Meghan actually woke up at 2 this morning and had puked in her crib. So, after a bath we put some cute jammies on and she got to sleep the rest of the night in bed with Kevin and I. OK, well Kevin actually slept on the very edge of the bed while Meghan and I shared the rest.

I wanted to get a picture of Meghan in the cute jammies but she just kept running away from me. She is behind the crib in this picture.

The cat wasn't about to give up her spot on the changing table so she actually let Meghan squish her and pet her.

Daddy and Meghan in a Tree

We went to RedRock Canyon State Park today. It was pretty neat. We took a little hike. Then Daddy and Meghan climbed a tree. We followed our adventure up with lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings. Meghan actually ate two BBQ hot wings. This kid is strange, she loves hot and spicy food.

Meghan really didn't want to sit on the red rock cliffs.

She had fun in the tree though.

Another one in the tree.

Concentration

I just love to watch Meghan play. She is able to do more and more each day. I feel so proud when she is able to accomplish something that she couldn't the day before. She has gotten quite good at building with her Mega Bloks (no that's not a typo). She made this tower on her own tonight. She kept making it too tall and it would fall over. When this happened she used to cry. But tonight, she just picked up the pieces and started again. We could all learn a lesson from her.

The weather was fantastic today. We took advantage and played outside for a while. Meghan found pulling the weeds from the sidewalk most entertaining.

It's Never Too Early

She may only be 16 months but she already has chores. Not really, but she does have an obsession with cleaning instruments.

She loves to get the stick vac out and sweep it along. Tonight she actually helped vacuum the floor after dinner (Daddy had to help guide her). She had a bit of a tantrum when it was time to put it away.

Meghan also likes to take the dishes out of the dishwasher. She tries to load it sometimes too. Unfortunately her version of loading the dishwasher is throwing things in to it. She actually has quite an arm. Maybe we have a softball player on our hands.

More!

I've been teaching Meghan some sign language lately since she doesn't have many words yet. She picked up on more pretty quickly and signs it whenever she wants something to eat. She actually says "Mo" when she signs it. You don't get the whole effect from this picture but she signs more by tapping her fingers together.

So Resourceful

Meghan was trying to look out the window at a cat in the backyard (not Millie). She isn't quite tall enough to see out the window well. Luckily the laundry basket was there for her to climb on.

Petting Millie

Since Millie's adventure outside she has taken to sleeping on Meghan's changing table. She didn't even move when I changed Meghan's diaper.
