Millie Went Missing

I woke up this morning and realized I hadn't seen Millie in a long while. She usually sleeps at my feet and I hadn't remembered her being there at all. Plus, she usually scratches on the dresser a few times a night warranting a thrown pillow or two.

Around four this morning the neighbors dog began barking incessantly. I should have trusted my gut and gone to check it out. You see, it had occurred to me that maybe Millie was out. I quickly shot that thought down because Millie doesn't go outside and there was no way she could have gotten out.

Fast forward to this morning. I woke up and went looking for Millie. I looked everywhere and I could not find her. So I decided to look out in the backyard. There Millie was laying down behind the air conditioner. Strange enough Millie came to live with us because Kevin's parents found her behind an air conditioner while they were on a walk in Columbia, MO. She was shaking and cold but unharmed. We still have no idea how she got out. We only left the house once. She must have snuck out and through the garage during that time. I guess we will have to be extra cautious now.

Meghan fell asleep on the carpet this morning while she was playing. I took advantage and used the time to practice using the manual setting on my camera.

We played with the shape sorter this afternoon. Up until know Meghan has been able to get the circle and the square in. Today she finally got the star and the triangle in. I love her concentration in this picture.

A Beautiful Day

Today was a beautiful day and it couldn't have come sooner. I am so sick of winter. I need spring. Meghan had fun playing at the park today. She must have walked a mile. She wasn't really interested in the play structure but walked all over the park. Part of that time she spent waving a stick around (don't worry it was too long for her to poke her eye out).
I wanted her to sit on the bench so I could take a picture. Apparently the wood was more interesting.

Round and Round She Goes

After her bath tonight Meghan decided to start spinning in circles. It is so cute and she thinks it is hilarious. The picture doesn't do it justice.

Animal sounds, maybe?

Meghan was a little upset when we got home today. So, we lined up the Little People. Meghan was picking them up and making funny noises. I think she was trying to make the animal sounds.

Rice, Rice, Everywhere

This afternoon I got the idea to put some old rice in a tub for Meghan to play with. She loves to play with the measuring spoons and cups and really went to town with the rice. I was impressed with how she was playing. She kept filling the cup and then dumping it out.

Because one cup isn't enough...

Meghan found a regular cup and tried to drink out of it even though it was empty. So, she put her sippy cup in the other cup and drank out of it that way. Such a smart girl.

Rubber duckies are not for eating...

Somebody forgot to tell Meghan that.

Another Late Night

I had conferences again tonight so I got home after Meghan went to sleep. Thus, Kevin is the subject of tonight's photo.

Earning her Keep

That's right. Meghan's already doing chores. Not really, she took the mop and bucket out today and was mopping the living room floor. Do they make kid sized vacuums that actually work? Maybe I ought to capitalize on that.

I had conferences tonight so I didn't get home until 8. Meghan and Kevin had dinner together at Meghan's table. So cute! She really is smiling in this picture but she is sick so she looks awful. I love my family!

She'll Climb Anything

Today it was a package of diapers. Anything Meghan can find to stand on or climb, she will. She especially likes to stand on the wipes container. I think we need a jungle gym.

From Yesterday

I fell asleep at 7:30 last night so I didn't do the blog post. This was yesterday on our way to daycare. Meghan is saying "Seriously Mom, it is way too early for this."

15 Months!

Meghan is 15 months old today. Where has the time gone???

Sunday is laundry day. After Kevin put the last load in Meghan pushed the laundry basket into the living room and climbed in. She had about 10 little people, her dolly, a blanket, and her stacking rings in there with her. She played for a good 20 minutes before she came out.

Lunch Time? The kid won't eat meat but she'll eat her little people lamb.

When we woke up this morning I put a blanket over Meghan's table and made a tunnel for her to crawl through. This provided quite a bit of entertainment, especially when Millie (the cat) would hide under it and Meghan would go in and ambush her.

The Monkey

We went to this workshop today called Ready For Kindergarten. It is basically a class to tell you how to help your child be ready for kindergarten. It was really just a bunch of common sense stuff that most parents should already know. I could have taught the class. At the class we did get this cool block set that has wheels and a string for you to pull it along with. Here Meghan was loading it up.

Then she discovered that if you pull it too hard all the blocks fall back out.

Here is The Monkey. If you ask her what a monkey does and make the sound for her she laughs and does something that resembles the chicken dance. I really need to get this one on video.

It's getting really hard to get pictures of Meghan. She moves so fast I sometimes have trouble catching her doing the cute stuff. She has also discovered the LCD screen on the back of the camera. So now anytime I get the camera out she wants to come look at herself on the back of the camera. It makes getting pictures of her challenging to say the least.

A Funny Outfit

Meghan wanted to sleep in this morning so we had to take breakfast with us to daycare. I also let her choose her own outfit. She wanted to wear this dress. Okay, she really just pulled it out of the drawer and I decided to go with it. But it was cold today so we had to pair it with leggings, hi-tops, and a hoodie that doesn't match. Maybe she'll start a new trend.

Go Away Ice

This is why I have yet another day off of work tomorrow. I took this picture today. The ice and snow just isn't melting. It doesn't help that the city does not salt or plow residential roads. Heck, they don't even treat some of the main roads around here.

I thought this looked really neat. It was a sheet of ice coming off the branch. You can't tell very well in the picture but it has a curve in it towards the top of the picture.

The branches have icicles. The ice is melting but it just refreezes before it drips off.

Now I am just hoping that this next storm system coming is regular rain and not freezing rain or more snow.
