Happy Halloween

Meghan had her first Halloween today. She even got to trick or treat at a few houses.

Got Dirt?

I was pretty sick this weekend, as was Meghan, so there wasn't too much fun going on. Nevertheless here are some pictures from the last week or so.

While I was getting things ready for work and daycare Friday Meghan took it upon herself to get into the pantry. She had found a potato and was noshing on it. Ya know, they say kids start to eat weird things (i.e. sand) when they are missing minerals in their diet. I wonder what eating a potato means?

Meghan's Great Grandmother gave this chair to her last Christmas. She loves the thing. She spends a great part of the day climbing into it with her books, doll, tiger, or anything else she can find. She has also discovered that she can stand up in it to get a better view out the window. Amazingly she is able to get out of the chair without hurting herself, though she still just rolls out occasionally. I guess it's just faster that way.

My intent was do do a few projects this weekend. I did not anticipate the nasty cold I have. So, the only project I got finished was this scrapbook frame. It has one of Meghan's first pictures, her hospital hat, her first pair of socks, and an M. It looks a lot better in person.

Baby Steps...

Meghan has been taking steps lately. We have been trying to capture it on video for days now. The problem is that every time we take the camera out she stops taking steps. I imagine it won't be long before she is really walking.

Pumpkin Patch Part II

More pumpkin patch fun...
Waving to herself. Meghan hasn't quite mastered the direction in which her hand should go while waving.

Playing with the big pumpkins.

A pumpkin hug.

With Kevin in the corn maze. It was really cold out, notice Meghan's mittens that are way too big. She kept trying to wave to herself with them on.
All in all, we rode on a hayride, went to the petting zoo, explored some pumpkins, and froze. Average high for October 11th is 74 degrees, today the high was 40 degrees.

Pumpkin Patch Part I

Today was Meghan's first visit to a pumpkin patch. It was tons of fun. Meghan was all smiles, especially for the animals. She would just barely touch them and then jerk her hand back laughing, so cute.

Holding an itty bitty pumpkin. It took a couple tries for her to actually hold it and not drop it on the ground.
Amused by her pumpkin.

One of my favorite pictures from today.

It's been a while...

I know, it's been a long while since I have made a blog post. These last two weeks have been busy. Meghan was sick last week/weekend (read: Kevin got covered in puke). Then I had conferences which meant I was at school until 7:30 Tuesday and Thursday with a high fever too. Turns out I had strep throat, occupational hazard I suppose.

Saturday was a fairly nice day, cloudy but warm. Today on the other hand was rainy and cold. Meghan wore a sweatsuit for the first time in many months. I should have been writing lesson plans today like a good teacher but instead I decided to spend some time doing things I like to do. You know, the hobbies we often never have time for. For me those hobbies are cooking/baking, crafting, and taking and editing pictures.

I made chili this morning in the crock pot since it was a cold and wet day. While Meghan slept this afternoon I made her some hair bows. You can see the fruits of my labor below. Then I took some pictures of the cutie and enhanced them a little since it was a cloudy day. Finally I made white chocolate macadamia nut cookies. And of course I can't forget my favorite thing, playing with Meghan. She's so interactive now, I love it!

I think the hair bow turned out great. Next time I will make the base brown too, I just didn't have any small brown ribbon.

This is Meghan's favorite face. She always makes it when she's hamming it up.

The cat thought she was being smart and hiding from Meghan. Instead, Meghan had the cat boxed in.
