Meghan's First History Lesson

Meghan and Kevin are standing at the spot where the final bullet hit JFK in Dealey Plaza. And yes, they are standing in the middle of the street. It was early Sunday morning so there was very little traffic.

The window at the top right corner of the Texas Book Depository is where the shots were fired from. Meghan was not happy to be there because she's a Democrat. Just kidding, it was only 25 degrees and she was cold and mad.

Meghan and Kevin are walking on the Grassy Knoll. Its winter time so the grass is dead. Conspiracy theorists have determined that Meghan was not the Second Gunman on the Grassy Knoll.

From Saturday

*I wasn't able to post pictures from yesterday as we went on an impromptu trip to Dallas.

Last night was Meghan's first night in a hotel room. Meghan was hanging out on the King sized bed. She was so interested in her new surroundings that she wouldn't go to bed. It's hard to believe that she took up most of the bed sleeping last night. Kevin and I were on the edges and Meghan was in the middle sleeping perpendicular to us. We were making an H.

Stupid Ice and Snow

This ice and now snow storm is messing with my weekend plans. At least I got a good picture out of it.

What a Difference A Day Makes

This is the window in our front bedroom.

Meghan touching icicles.

She really wanted to go back outside.

Playing Outside

It was 63 degrees here today. So, we had to take advantage and play outside.
It's hard to believe that it was so nice today and there is going to be an ice storm tomorrow.
Kevin was holding Meghan so she could look over the fence at the doggies.

This is just a snapshot but I liked it. I just love her eyes.

What is she watching?

Can you guess what Meghan and Kitty are watching on TV?

Now how are we ever going to say no to that look?!?

A Kazoo

Meghan has discovered that a breast pump flange doubles as a kazoo.

The Little Daredevil

Meghan has a new trick. Now she not only stands and rocks in the chair but she also stands on the arm. I think it's time to enroll her in Gymboree.

We went to the park to play today. It was pretty cold out so we couldn't stay for too long.

Such a big girl, climbing the structure on her own.

She was not in the mood for the swing today.

Lasagna and Mommy's Purse

We had lasagna for lunch. Meghan ate an entire plate of it. Can you tell she loved it?

The girly girl and Mommy's purse. Now if only she had her bracelets (a.k.a. the rings from her ring stacker) she'd be set.

Bath Time

Meghan was playing with the bubbles while waiting for the bath to fill.

Buddha Belly

Meghan does this cute thing when we are changing her for bed. She pats her belly and giggles. We call it Buddha Belly.

Outside Fun

It was pretty nice outside this afternoon. When we got home Meghan and I went out in the back yard to play for a little bit. Poor Millie. She wanted to come out too.

I'm not sure what Meghan was doing here. She kept ducking down to look at me while I was trying to get a picture of her.

The Nannerpus (from the Denny's commercial, You Tube it) Meghan lover her bananas. Today while I was trying to cut one up for her she took the whole thing and then broke it in two.

I made her sit in her chair to eat the banana. She shoved the entire half that was in her right hand in the previous picture into her mouth. Now, if she would just be as eager to eat meat as she is bananas we'd be golden. This kid will not touch meat. I had some ham yesterday and she was asking for bites so I gave her a little. As soon as it touched her tongue she spit it back out and then asked for more. The process repeated three times until she decided it wasn't worth it.

Too Early To Fail

Today was a long day. I had a staff meeting after school and Kevin is out of town. By the time I got home, fed Meghan, and played a little it was time for bed. Frankly, I am just too tired to take a picture of something and then upload it. But because I don't want to fail at my 365 challenge, especially so early in the game, I took a picture with my iphone. (Yes, I joined the in crowd and got an iphone.)

This is actually one of Meghan's favorite toys. We call her Dolly. Meghan will carry her around and hug her. If you tell her to go find Dolly she will. My mom is trying to find one of my old Cabbage Patch Babies for Meghan. I can't wait to see how she will like it. Anytime we are in the store and she sees a doll she reaches for it and smiles. I think it will be neat for Meghan to have a doll that was once one of her Mommy's favorite dolls.

Cell Phone Fun

How old were you when you got your first cell phone? I was 16, Kevin was almost 19, and Meghan was 14 months. She can't talk yet but we thought we'd get ahead of the trend. Okay, she doesn't really have a cell phone.

Meghan was playing with my old cell phone this afternoon. She managed to turn it on and then take a picture of her feet. Because the cell phone isn't active anymore I had to take a picture of it with my camera to get it on the blog.
Eating Lunch
Meghan skipped the cut up bananas and went right for the big chunk. It ended up all over her. And no, that's not a booger in her nose, it's banana.

And finally being a giggly girl after we put her new shoes on. This is her first pair of hard soled shoes. It's funny to watch her walk around. Because she isn't quite used to them yet she trips some and is wobbly. Try to ignore the flood of drool, cutting molars is hard work.

Brushing Her New Teeth

Meghan finally cut two molars. This was a rough week for her. She had Strep, a sinus infection, and was cutting molars. Now that she is feeling better she is back to her usual smiley, happy self. She spent most of the day laughing and playing. She had the most fun destroying the Mega Block tower Kevin was making. It is so cute when she gets excited because she swings her arms, bounces, and laughs. The problem is when you get the video camera out she stops doing it. One of these days I will get it on video.

She Can Finally Do It

We have had this stacker toy for a long while. Meghan has always been able to take the pieces off. She just recently started putting them all, event he smallest one, back on. It's fun to see her develop and be able to tackle new challenges. Even the smallest successes make me feel so proud of her.

Fancy Farm

I had the Little People farm when I was a kid. I don't remember it but I remember seeing pictures. Meghan has the new version of it. It is one of the few toys that can hold her attention for more than a few minutes. It was the subject of my picture tonight. I was playing with manual settings and trying to get a good picture in the living room without a flash. Tomorrow my subject will be Meghan once again.

Cat Nap

Today the subject of my picture is Millie. She sleeps in the weirdest positions. I'm not sure how laying with her neck up on the arm of the couch is comfortable but it seemed to work for her.

Her First Fat Lip

Not a very good picture. Kevin just snaps the picture without looking through the viewfinder. Try to ignore the goop around her mouth. You can't tell very well in the picture but she has a fat upper lip and a bruise on her cheek. She fell at daycare today, poor baby. =(

She Only Gets Girlier!

This isn't from today but I think it is cute. We were at Old Navy on Saturday and Kevin put fairy wings on Meghan. She looked so cute but was too interested in the toy shelf to let Kevin take a picture with her facing forward. Sorry the picture isn't very clear, it was taken with an iphone.

Whenever Meghan gets her hands on something that could possibly be a purse she puts it on her arm and carries it around. Tonight it was my bag of knitting looms.

My favorite is when we come home from the grocery store and Meghan drags the reusable grocery bag around putting stuff in it. Isn't that just the cutest smile?!?

Girly Girl

Playing with Mommy's bracelet.

Grumpy Ducky

This isn't a very good picture but it depicts Meghan's mood today. She wasn't feeling well and was a tad grumpy.

First Pony Tail

Meghan got her first pony tail today!

Another Day Off

I had another day off today because of the extreme cold here, so I took Meghan's nap time to knit her a hat. I made it too short and the stitches are a little far apart. I am still proud of it for my first attempt at knitting.

Snow Day! But no snow.

Schools were closed today because of the extreme cold so I didn't have to go to work. Meghan and I got to hang out and play today. She is 14 months old today. I can't believe how fast these last 14 months have gone. I look back at pictures and I miss when Meghan was such a tiny little thing. But at the same time I love the stage she is at now. She has such a lovable personality. She is into giving hugs and kisses right now. My favorite is when she just dives into my arms for a hug.

Being a Goofy Girl
Meghan and I spent quite a bit of time cuddling in the rocking chair reading books this morning. It was such a nice time. I snuck away to get the camera and this is what I came back to.

Silly Girl

So here is the sign. It's a day late but cute nonetheless. You can't really see the marks but Meghan helped color the sign. She is just starting to get the hang of what crayons are for. Surprisingly she doesn't eat them.

Begin a goofball.

Meghan helped unload the groceries when we got home. She kept pulling thing out of the bags and handing them to me. So Cute!

Sleepy Baby

My original intention for todays picture was Meghan holding a sign saying Happy 30th Birthday Uncle Alex. Alas, a cranky baby and a busy evening left me remembering this when Meghan had just fallen asleep. So instead you get to see an overexposed picture of the little one sleeping. Ignore her freakishly large looking hands, they really aren't that large in person.

Seeing this picture reminds me I need to put her real crib bedding back on. She puked blue frosting on it a couple weeks ago so I had to deep clean it. And no I was not the one to feed her a sugar cookie with blue frosting. I can thank daycare for that. I'm not sure what made them think that was a good idea.

Back to Work

Today it was back to work. I was a little worried about Meghan going back to daycare after having been with us for two weeks, but she did fine. She didn't even cry when I left.

Here are two pictures from this afternoon:

Meghan was playing with her farm, and then The Office came on. Normally she couldn't care less about TV. Yet The Office she found rather intriguing.
Giving Daddy hugs!
