Soccer

Meghan had her first soccer practice last week.  She did pretty well, though it did take a little while for her to get warmed up to the idea of it.

 She did really well dribbling the ball and maintaining control.

 Is she going to score?

Yes she is!

California

A couple weekends ago we flew to California for a friends wedding.  Meghan had been so excited to see the beach.  All she wanted to do was "go in the ocean".  It's still early in the year so the weather wasn't warm enough to go all the way in the ocean.

 Meghan was satisfied with just putting her toes in.  The water was actually pretty cold, so was the air that evening when we got there.  It was about 60 but Meghan really wanted to stick her feet in right then.  Our hotel room was on the ocean so it was hard to tell her she had to wait.

 When we went to Oregon in 2009 we took a picture similar to this.  In both pictures Meghan was more interested in playing in the sand than looking at the camera.

 This has to be the coolest park anywhere.  It is a complete park with play structure and everything.  Meghan loved it!

 Since it was a little warmer during the day she got to play in the sand again.  She loves the sand and the beach.  I think we may have to make a week long trip next summer.

 The real reason we were in California was for a friends wedding.  Meghan knew that there was dancing involved and that's all she wanted to do.  In an effort to keep her occupied until she could dance we broke out the phone and headphones.  It worked.

And then she finally got to dance.  She danced into the night.  I wish I had half the energy she does.

It's been a while.  We haven't really been doing anything fun lately.  I took Meghan to try and get some spring pictures of her.  They don't look much like spring and they aren't edited yet but they are cute none the less.

It's been so nice outside lately we have been soaking it up. Pretty soon it will be too hot to be out there. Most of our evenings are spent in the front yard. Meghan loves to draw with sidewalk chalk and drive her Cozy Coupe around.

Meghan loves to read.  But, that's not why I posted this picture.  It's the hair, in all it's curly glory.  Last year at this time I was enjoying that Meghan had enough hair to make pig tails.  It has actually grown a tremendous amount since then.  Only you wouldn't know it since the longer it gets the curlier it gets.  When it is wet it easily reaches the middle of her back.  This poor child has a lifetime of hair product and tools ahead of her.

We had a ton of fun at a friend's birthday party.  I think Meghan most enjoyed having her face painted.

And of course she wanted to paint faces again.  So I found a recipe and we tried it out.  It didn't work too well, but she had fun painting my face.

Playing Video Games With Daddy

Kevin woke up early this morning and was playing Golf on the Playstation. Meghan wanted to play too, so  she grabbed the second controller and swung away.

Meghan has a pretty good golf swing.

Writing Her Name

Tonight Meghan practiced writing her name.  She is getting pretty good at it.  The only problem: she is left handed.  I have the paper in a plastic sleeve that she uses dry erase marker on.  Her left hand sweeps across the letters she has already written and smudges them.

Enjoying January



Meghan has been having some fun this month.  She had a friend over to play last night while I went to game night with a friend.  While the mommies are away the kids will play.  Meghan decided to color herself and her friend.  There was even pen on the bottom of their feet.  Meghan seems quite pleased with her handy work.



 Being at preschool has given Meghan the opportunity to try all sorts of new things, like cutting.  She kept coming home and asking if she could use my scissors.  There was no way I was letting her use sharp bladed scissors.  After much searching I found the toddler scissors at Ikea.  She has a straight pair and a zig-zag pair.  She was proud of herself for all that confetti she made.

For Christmas Meghan got a few Lego sets.  They are the medium size ones that are still manageable for her but still allow for creativity.  She and Daddy made a zoo while I was cooking dinner. 

I love these moments, each and every one of them.
