A Busy March

Another busy month is in the books.  Here is the recap.
Meghan continues to be a playful and helpful little girl.  She likes to play "house".  She always asks Kevin to play with her because someone has to be the Daddy.  She is also very helpful.  She likes to help me with Nolan and play with him when he is fussy.  Meghan makes Nolan laugh better than anyone else.
Nolan continues to grow.  At 4 months, he is now rolling over occasionally, smiles a lot, and giggles at his daddy and sister.
In early March, we went to Columbia, Missouri to have Nolan baptized.  Four years ago, we had Meghan baptized in the same church.  This time she helped.  She held the Holy Water as the Pastor baptized Nolan.

Nolan was fantastic during the baptism and the whole church service.  The same cannot be said for his attitude during the nine hour car ride home to Texas.  He screamed and fussed for the better part of five hours.
While in Missouri, we introduced Meghan to Golf.  She and her Papa (Todd) used the little golf clubs to hit the ball around the front yard.
I added this picture because I really like how they interact with each other.
And it was St. Patrick's day so Meghan and Nolan flaunted their green.

Meghan and Nolan Growing Up

We are three months into the two child experiment.  The most recent highlight is Nolan becoming more vocal (in a good way, not screaming).  We finally were able to get him on video laughing.  He likes to smile and laugh.

Meghan has adapted well to the her role as the older sister.  She is a very helpful and caring sister to Nolan.

After 4 years and a few months, I finally decided Meghan needed a haircut.  Her hair had gotten a little ratty at the bottom.  It was hard to cut her hair because I remember how happy I was to be able to put a pigtail in her hair when she was little.  Now she has grown up and I had to cut that hair off.

We also bought her a bike.  She hopped on the first time and we haven't been able to get her to stop.  She loves her new bike.  Eventually we will take the training wheels off.

Nolan is 6 Weeks Old

Nolan is six weeks old today.  It feels like these last six weeks have flown by, they are such a blur.  This probably has something to do with the lack of sleep.  When Nolan came out of the bath the other day I stuck his hair up while drying it.  It never went down so he sported a little mohawk for a while.

Nolan has finally been intentionally smiling.  For a while he would only smile for Daddy but now he smiles for Mommy and Meghan too.

He has also started to take an interest in his play mat and really everything around him.  He has started to bat at things and is getting pretty good at tracking objects with his eyes and is spending a lot more time awake.  I look forward to seeing what the next few weeks hold for us.

Welcome Nolan!

On Thursday November 29th we welcomed the newest member of the family...

Nolan Eugene
Born at 2:56pm weighing 7 pounds 6 ounces and measuring 19 1/2 inches long.

He came out looking exactly like his sister, pouty lip and all.  He is an incredibly calm baby.  Only cries when he's hungry and when he wants to be changed (which happens to be any time his diaper is even a little wet).  He is starting to spend a little more time awake looking around and taking it all in.

Meghan is completely enamoured with Nolan.  She wants to hold him and hug him all the time.  She is eager to help take care of him in any way she can.

We are so happy to have this sweet baby boy in our lives.

Happy Birthday Meghan

Meghan's 4th Birthday was yesterday.  I can't believe she's four already.  These last four years have flown by.  She seems so grown up now.  She has such an amazing personality.  She is sweet and caring and loves to talk to anyone who will listen.  In fact, the only time she isn't talking is when she is sleeping.  It's hard to imagine that just two years ago we were wondering if she would ever talk.  We are so lucky to have this sweet little girl in our lives.

We finally made it to the pumpkin patch this weekend.  We had been waiting for some nice fall weather, but were running out of time.

Upon walking into the patch/farm, Meghan announced that it stunk and the animals really needed baths.  I was afraid this may be an indication that she would not be interested in the animals (the main reason we came to this patch).

After a little instruction from Daddy she was more than happy to feed the goats.

And pet them too.

She enjoyed the hayride, but probably not as much as she liked the hay maze.

There were some pretty cool hay decorations.  I'm not sure why she decided to pose with muscles for this one.

We had fun at the pumpkin patch and Meghan is now ready to go trick or treating.  We just need to get her to finalize her costume choice.

Meghan habla Espanol? Si!

At school and at home, Meghan has been learning Spanish.  She recently learned the months of the year in Spanish (see video, you may need to turn up the volume).  She also knows the days of the week, colors, and can count to 20 in Spanish.

Kevin also teaches her Spanish.  She can get dressed in the morning and tell you what everything is.  Camisa (shirt), Pantelones (pants), Calcetines (socks) and Zapatos (shoes) are her go to "clothing" words.

Pretty soon, she will be bilingual.  That will go a long way living in Texas.
