Facing Forward

I haven't been keeping up with the blog lately. Life has been pretty busy. I'm trying to get back on it.

We turned Meghan's car seat around yesterday. She gets to face forward now. I was going to keep her rear facing until she was two but this heat is too much. The poor thing would end up covered in sweat whenever we went anywhere because the air took so long to get to her. She is much happier now and smells better because she isn't drenched in sweat. She was a little confused at first but I think she really likes being able to see what's going on.

Grapes are Fun

Meghan was eating some grapes after dinner tonight when she discover that she could put her thumb inside of them. She was so proud of her accomplishment she had to leave it there for everyone to see.

Shampoo and Cat Scratches

To continue with the "I can do it" stage Meghan shampooed her own hair tonight. She actually did a great job. I put the shampoo in her hand and she rubbed it in.

I finally got smart and put Meghan's books in a basket instead of on the shelf. When they are on the shelf she pulls them all down repeatedly. It's much easier to clean up this way. Yesterday Meghan decided to empty the basket and get in. She then made me give her every single book back to put on top of herself. She got mad when we ran out of room.

You can hardly see it in this picture but Meghan got a cat scratch on her face yesterday. I am really surprised it took 20 months for the cat to scratch her. That cat puts up with so much from her and never reacts. Yesterday Meghan tried to pick Millie up. She got her about 6 inches off the ground and when Millie tried to get away Meghan got a little scratch.

Puzzles

Meghan loves doing puzzles and she is quite good at them. This one is geometric shapes. She spent about an hour tonight doing this puzzle no less than 30 times. Then she found a hand and finger puzzle. It was a little too hard for her but she was able to get most of the pieces in place. I see gifted and talented classes in our future...

"I'll do it!"

Meghan is going through an independent phase right now. She wants to do everything herself. Today it was unlocking the door, buckling her carseat (which she can't do), pushing the cart instead of sitting in it, and brushing her own teeth. I love to see her learning new things and wanting to do things on her own, but sometimes it is exhausting.

Meghan's Apps

Meghan has her own app page on my phone. She can even unlock the phone and get to her page. When she is finished with one app she exits and chooses another. Is she extraordinarily intelligent or just a product of a technology generation? Kevin says she's intelligent.

Texas Weather

I went outside tonight to take a picture of a cool cloud formation. It was so humid my camera lens fogged up. This was the result.

After I got the lens to defog, the cool cloud formation was gone. At least we got to see some blue sky. These tropical storms are making it way too humid. I hate humidity.
