We finally made it to the pumpkin patch this weekend.  We had been waiting for some nice fall weather, but were running out of time.

Upon walking into the patch/farm, Meghan announced that it stunk and the animals really needed baths.  I was afraid this may be an indication that she would not be interested in the animals (the main reason we came to this patch).

After a little instruction from Daddy she was more than happy to feed the goats.

And pet them too.

She enjoyed the hayride, but probably not as much as she liked the hay maze.

There were some pretty cool hay decorations.  I'm not sure why she decided to pose with muscles for this one.

We had fun at the pumpkin patch and Meghan is now ready to go trick or treating.  We just need to get her to finalize her costume choice.

Meghan habla Espanol? Si!

At school and at home, Meghan has been learning Spanish.  She recently learned the months of the year in Spanish (see video, you may need to turn up the volume).  She also knows the days of the week, colors, and can count to 20 in Spanish.

Kevin also teaches her Spanish.  She can get dressed in the morning and tell you what everything is.  Camisa (shirt), Pantelones (pants), Calcetines (socks) and Zapatos (shoes) are her go to "clothing" words.

Pretty soon, she will be bilingual.  That will go a long way living in Texas.

End of the Hot Summer

It was too hot to go outside a few days this summer so Meghan improvised and made her own tumbling mat out of old pillows.  She likes to roll and tumble and was mimicking the gymnast of the Olympics.

After all the gymnastics, she likes to relax.
Another use for the pillows is a place for Daddy to hide during Hide and Seek.  These pillows are getting a lot of non-sleeping use in our house.
Because of the heat in Texas, we find a lot of fun indoor activities to do.  We went to the Dallas World Aquarium where Meghan was able to meet an Aztec dancer and warrior.  She also saw a lot wild animals, reptiles, and fish while never going outside.  If you are ever in Dallas and have children, visit the Dallas World Aquarium.
While cleaning out her closet, we found Meghan's first Halloween costume.  When she was 51 weeks old, we took her trick-or-treating in the bumblebee costume.  Now she's quite a bit taller (and goofier).  I can't believe it still fits...

Chef Meghan

Meghan loves to cook, bake, and play with food.  One weekend morning, I made this happy face pancake using a little food coloring.  Well, that was a bad precedent to set with a three year old because now Meghan requested this or something similar every morning.

When Kevin is out of town, I usually make a big meal the first night and then eat the leftovers throughout the week.  The last time he was gone, I just didn't want to cook so I got a Papa Murphy's pizza for me to eat during the week.  They have kids make-and-bake pizza which Meghan really wanted.  She spread the sauce, cheese, and put a few pepperonis on the pizza.

Meghan loves to watch Betty Crocker Kitchen how-to-videos on Youtube.  She asks to recreate some of the cakes and dessert she sees.  Maybe she will become a great chef or baker.

Soccer

Meghan had her first soccer practice last week.  She did pretty well, though it did take a little while for her to get warmed up to the idea of it.

She did really well dribbling the ball and maintaining control.
 Is she going to score?
Yes she is!

California

A couple weekends ago we flew to California for a friends wedding.  Meghan had been so excited to see the beach.  All she wanted to do was "go in the ocean".  It's still early in the year so the weather wasn't warm enough to go all the way in the ocean.

Meghan was satisfied with just putting her toes in.  The water was actually pretty cold, so was the air that evening when we got there.  It was about 60 but Meghan really wanted to stick her feet in right then.  Our hotel room was on the ocean so it was hard to tell her she had to wait.

When we went to Oregon in 2009 we took a picture similar to this.  In both pictures Meghan was more interested in playing in the sand than looking at the camera.

This has to be the coolest park anywhere.  It is a complete park with play structure and everything.  Meghan loved it!

Since it was a little warmer during the day she got to play in the sand again.  She loves the sand and the beach.  I think we may have to make a week long trip next summer.

The real reason we were in California was for a friends wedding.  Meghan knew that there was dancing involved and that's all she wanted to do.  In an effort to keep her occupied until she could dance we broke out the phone and headphones.  It worked.

And then she finally got to dance.  She danced into the night.  I wish I had half the energy she does.

It's been a while.  We haven't really been doing anything fun lately.  I took Meghan to try and get some spring pictures of her.  They don't look much like spring and they aren't edited yet but they are cute none the less.

It's been so nice outside lately we have been soaking it up. Pretty soon it will be too hot to be out there. Most of our evenings are spent in the front yard. Meghan loves to draw with sidewalk chalk and drive her Cozy Coupe around.
